يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ – 26:88
The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children
إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ – 26:89
But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart.”
On the Day of Judgement, a person’s wealth and children will not benefit him.
Except..
For the one who come to Allah with a sound heart. A heart that is uncontaminated, free of doubts, desires, ill feelings. Such a person would have acquired and used his wealth in the Dunya, in a way that was pleasing to Allah. And if he had children, he would have raised them well, given them the proper Tarbiyah, made du’a for them, ensured the Deen was the number one priority in their lives. And this would only be possible, if he had a sound heart. Qalbun Saleem.
Abdullah bin ‘Amr (ra) said, “The Messenger of Allah (saw) was asked, ‘Who among the people is the best?’ He (saw) replied, ‘Everyone pure of heart, truthful of tongue.’ They said, ‘As for the truthful of tongue, we know him, but what is ‘pure of heart’?’ He (saw) said, ‘He who is pious and pure, there is neither sin in him, nor transgression, nor ill feeling, nor jealousy.’ [as-Silsilah as-Saheehah]
We need to be careful and conscious of the contents of our hearts. Do we harbour ill feelings towards others? Do we have hidden hatred, malice, jealousy or envy? Remember, a saleem heart is pure, free from all such vices. So keep a constant check on your heart.
