There is a very important lesson that we learn from the following du’a. And that is the lesson of loving the believers and having a clean heart for them.
“Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful.” (al-Hashr: 10)
People can be a test of patience for us. And it is often those that are closest to us that we tend to feud with the most. So the real challenge is having a clean heart for them – one without any malice, envy, grudges or ill-feelings. When you rid yourself of these feelings, it can be liberating because your heart and mind is at peace. But if you don’t let go of them, then they can shackle you, paving the way for a whole host of other problems!
So if you find yourself having grudges, envy or other ill-feelings towards another believer, then make this du’a. And sincerely ask Allah to remove the shackles in your heart, so that you can accept them freely and openly.
